Crypto-linked equities opened the week on firmer footing as Ethereum outperformed Bitcoin over a 24-hour window, with Ethereum treasury company BitMine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) leading gains among large-cap crypto stocks on Monday morning.
According to Stocktwits, Ethereum's price rose as much as 2.2% to around $2,550 after Bitcoin recovered over the weekend to more than $84,000. That Bitcoin strength did not fully hold into the new week: in early Monday trading, BTC had pared its gains to trade around $83,300, up roughly 0.5% over the prior 24 hours. The divergence left ether modestly ahead of bitcoin on a relative basis, a dynamic that tends to show up quickly in the share prices of companies that hold large digital asset treasuries.
BMNR stock rose as much as 3% in premarket trading. Notably, the move in the share price was not matched by a shift in retail mood: on Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the Tom Lee-backed enterprise remained in 'bearish' territory over the past day. Sharplink (SBET), another Ethereum treasury company, also advanced, with its stock rising as much as 2.9% in premarket trade while retail sentiment improved to 'bearish' from the 'extremely bearish' zone over the past day.
The broader crypto equity complex followed. Other large crypto-linked companies including Strategy (MSTR), Coinbase (COIN) and Circle (CRCL) were also in the green during premarket trade. Moving in the opposite direction were oil prices, which eased — a backdrop that has recently coincided with improved risk appetite across markets.
Setting against that modest equity strength is a weaker picture in US exchange-traded fund flows. US-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $681 million in net outflows last week, their largest weekly withdrawal since June, according to SoSoValue data cited in the report. Weekly ETF flow data has become one of the more closely watched proxies for institutional and advisor-driven demand since the products launched, and sustained outflows are generally read as a sign of cooling appetite rather than active distress. Flows can and frequently do reverse week to week, and a single week of withdrawals does not establish a trend.
Attention now turns to the macro calendar. The report frames Monday's move as occurring ahead of a Consumer Price Index release due later in the week. Inflation prints have repeatedly acted as volatility catalysts for digital assets because they shape expectations for interest rate policy, which in turn influences the appeal of assets that generate no yield. Crypto equities, which combine operating businesses with balance-sheet exposure to tokens, are often more volatile than the underlying coins in both directions.
On the technical side, crypto analyst Ted Pillows identified resistance for Ethereum between $2,560 and $2,570 and said a breakout could open the way toward $2,700. Technical levels such as these are observations about past price behaviour and areas where traders have historically clustered orders; they are not forecasts, and no chart level or macro data release guarantees any particular future outcome.
The overall picture heading into the CPI release is a mixed one. Spot prices for the two largest cryptocurrencies have stabilised near recent ranges after a weekend bounce, equity proxies are participating, and retail sentiment indicators remain cautious even as prices tick higher. Meanwhile, the ETF channel is showing its heaviest redemptions in months. How those crosscurrents resolve will likely depend less on crypto-specific news than on how bond and commodity markets digest the inflation data.
